light, fresh, dry
Vernaccia di San Gimignano is an extremely old wine going back to the 1200s when it was already being served to Kings and Popes alike. What is more, it is rare because it is only produced in San Gimignano. “Grillaie” is the name given in Tuscany to the vines which get the most sun and so a favourite place for crickets to build their nests, hence the symbol of the stylised cricket which has always been the original image of this wine.
